  • Ten ways to arrange it.

Who ends up using it

Bought for one reason. Kept for three.

Most people order it for a single problem and then find the other setups on their own. These are the ones customers mention most.

Acid reflux

When you have been told to sleep with your upper body raised.

Snoring

For anyone who sleeps better at an angle than flat on their back.

Legs and knees

Raised from knee to ankle after a long day standing.

Back and shoulders

Something solid behind you when you sit up in bed.

After surgery

Getting in and out of bed without having to lie flat first.

Pregnancy

Side-lying with the bolster filling the gap under your shoulder.

Everyday sleeping

The setup most people settle on within the first week.

Reading and working

Propped upright without building a pile of pillows first.

This is a comfort product, not a medical device. If you are recovering from something or managing a condition, ask your doctor whether sleeping at an angle is right for you.

In use

What people say once it's on the bed.

Read a few before you decide.

What arrives

Three pieces, one position.

Not a taller pillow. A shaped base that sets the angle, a bolster that fills the space behind your neck, and a lift under your legs so your lower back is not doing the work.

Torso

The wedge

A dense base under a memory foam top layer. It carries your weight from the waist up, so the incline comes from your whole upper body rather than from a folded neck.

Head and neck

The bolster

A curved roll that sits in the gap behind your neck. It keeps your chin from dropping toward your chest, which is what makes most wedges uncomfortable after an hour.

Legs

The leg lift

Raises you from knee to ankle. On an incline your body wants to slide down the slope — this is what stops it, and it takes the pull off your lower back.

Use any one of them alone. Used together, they hold a single position through the night.

Ten ways to set it up

Find the one that matches your night.

The three pieces rearrange. Most people settle on one setup within a week and leave it that way.

Sleeping

Full incline

Wedge under the torso, bolster behind the neck, leg lift at the knees. The setup most people land on.

Sitting up

Reading in bed

Wedge turned upright against the headboard so your back is supported without stacking pillows behind you.

Legs

Legs raised only

Leg lift on its own at the end of a long day on your feet. Wedge stays off the bed.

Side

On your side

Lower incline with the bolster moved down to fill the gap under your shoulder.

Gentle

Low angle

Wedge alone at its shallowest setting, for anyone who finds a steep incline too much at first.

Recovery

Propped and supported

Full incline with the leg lift moved higher, so you are held in place rather than sliding down.

Lounging

On the sofa

The whole set moves to the couch. Nothing is fixed to the bed.

Knees

Knees bent

Leg lift under the knees while lying flat, which takes the arch out of your lower back.

Working

Laptop in bed

Wedge upright behind you, leg lift across your lap as a rest.

Shared bed

One side only

The set takes up half a bed, so one person can use it without changing the other side.

Cut it open

Three layers, and each one is doing a job.

A single block of soft foam gives out in a month. A single block of firm foam is uncomfortable from the first night. The layers are there because neither works on its own.

Cross-section, side view

Covers unzip and go in the wash. The foam does not.

Before you buy

It suits some nights better than others.

An incline changes how you lie down, and that is not what everyone wants. Read the right-hand column first — if you are on it, this is not the thing to buy.

Worth it if

You have been told to sleep with your upper body raised, and stacking pillows has not held up.

You sleep on your back or your side, and you are willing to give a new position a week to settle.

You spend real time sitting up in bed — reading, working, recovering — and your lower back knows it.

You run warm at night and a brushed-fabric wedge would be too hot.

Skip it if

You sleep on your stomach. An incline does not work in that position and no wedge will change that.

You share a small bed. The set takes up roughly half of a queen and it stays there.

You need something you can fold flat and put away each morning. This is foam. It lives on the bed.

You mainly want the cheapest option. There are forty-dollar wedges and for some people they are enough.

If you are somewhere in the middle, write to us before you order. We would rather talk you out of it than take a return.

Still wondering

The things people ask us.

If the answer you need is not here, write to us. We answer these ourselves.

How long before it stops feeling strange?

About a week for most people. The first two or three nights you notice it. After that you stop noticing, and then at some point you try a night without it and notice that instead.

This is why the trial window is thirty nights and not seven.

How much of the bed does it take up?

Roughly half a queen, and it stays there — this is not something you fold away in the morning.

If you share a bed, the set sits on one side and the other side is untouched. If your bed is smaller than a queen, it will feel like a lot.

Will it smell when I open it?

Probably, a little. Memory foam is shipped compressed and it carries a faint chemical smell for the first day or two.

Take the covers off, leave the foam somewhere airy, and it goes. If it is still noticeable after a few days, tell us — that is not normal.

Can I wash it?

The covers, yes. They unzip fully and go in the machine on a cold cycle. Air dry them rather than tumble drying.

The foam itself does not get washed. Spot clean it if you need to and let it dry completely before putting the cover back on.

Does it work on a sofa?

Yes. Nothing is fixed to the bed, so the whole set moves to the couch and back. A few people end up using it there more than in the bedroom.

How firm is it?

Firmer than a pillow, softer than it looks. The top layer gives under your shoulders; the layer underneath does not move.

If you like sleeping on something very soft, the first nights will feel firm to you.

Is it hot to sleep on?

Less than a plain foam wedge. The cover is a smooth knit that stays cool to the touch rather than the brushed fabric most wedges use, and the base has channels through it so air is not trapped underneath you.

It is still foam, so it is warmer than sleeping flat on a sheet.

When will it arrive?

Orders leave within two to three business days and typically arrive about a week after that. You get tracking as soon as it ships.

Measure the width of your side of the bed and compare it to the wedge. On a queen the set sits comfortably on one half; on a full it will take up most of the width.
